A rather clear command of Jesus—”Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”  We understand His command as an expression of His love.  Because He loves us He desires that every generation hear His Word, know the truths that He taught and respond in faith to the promises poured out in Holy Baptism.

Additionally, the Scriptures teem with passages about passing on the true teachings and doctrines of the orthodox Christian faith.  St Paul writes – “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3: 14 – 15)
